Nursery Mural

I thought I'd share the mural I did for the nursery and the round crib which I adore. I didn't want a themed nursery that went over board. So the Pooh is limited to the mural and stuffed animals. The rest focuses on the honeybee story in general with bee bedding and a honeybee lamp I revamped in the corner above the recliner. I stuck with yellows, soft blues and greens that can be played up with either more blues or with soft pinks and more yellow depending on whether we adopt a boy or a girl.

  2. Thanks! I love to paint, but don't get to do it often enough. I did Bob the Builder all over my nephews room when he was 1 1/2. He had to take everyone that came to the house up to see his room for months and months.

Oh, that's sweet. He was proud....

  4. Oh yeah, he was a huge Bob the Builder fan... He'd go around with his little tools saying "Can we fix it?" "Yes, we can." some of his first phrases...

  5. Actually the cutest thing, he's 6 now and I offered to repaint his room last year to something else, and he didn't want to paint over it all yet.

  7. Thank you! I also have some vintage prints from other nursery rhymes for the opposite wall above the changing table. I've just always loved classic pooh, and you only get to decorate their rooms for a short time before they have a say in it all. :)

Yes, but you can be stubborn like I am too.... I'll have to post some pics of the boys' room.

It has changed some over the years but the Paddington wall-hanging still rests where he has for 10 years.

I gotta let it go, but it won't be a good day when he comes down.

And the Bob the Builder thing. Big B/Bailey had a yellow hard hat that we put lettering on to say "Boss". He loved BtB too.

So Barbara, you have me curious. Can I ask if you have set plans, are you in the process, and all that other stuff that is really none of my business but I wanna know about anyway....

  9. It's actually kind of a long process, but we are just waiting to be chosen at this point. We were chosen and waiting last July, but she decided to keep the baby a week before he was due. So we are just waiting again. I have a closet FULL of boy's clothes, so I'm guessing the next one will be a girl. Although I can't wait to go shopping for girl's clothes someday, so that would be fine, we'd just pack the boys stuff up for the next one. Everything else I stuck with neutral items, like the pack and play, stroller, car seat and such will all work for either a boy or girl.

Oh boy do I know that story. It is so heartbreaking. Twice a couple we know were waiting and the Mom changed her mind in the end.

It will work out though. Keep us posted if you feel up to it, I will have it on my mind...

  11. Only 1 in 3 adoptions finalize so you have to keep that in mind going into it. It is very hard, especially knowing he's turning 1 next month. We went to the ultrsound with her and really bonded, so it really felt like he was ours. But it wasn't meant to be.

It is a hard situation. One of my oldest friends, at 16 allowed her baby to be adopted. The family he is w/ is amazing. He of course is grown now ('cuz we're old now - L) but throughout they sent her pictures of him and letters occasionally.

She and I have lost touch but I wonder if he will ever seek her out.

  13. Possibly. We're hoping for a fairly open adoption, but you never know what the expecting parents will want.
